This is probably the first real smart thing Gordon Brown has suggested! Kudos. I love watching Sachin bat, it’s strange how one man doing something as miniscule as playing cricket in the grand scheme of things, has won over entire nations, not just people!

I am definitely a Sachin fan, but how has he achieved this level of appreciation and adoration? The answer’s simple, because when he bats he bares his soul. Watching him bat, is not poetry, but pure emotion and goodness of the world rapped into a single thing. This man has reminded me there is hope in the world, just by watching him bat.

I know it sounds crazy, even absurd but millions and millions of people round the world know what i mean. There’s nothing better than looking into his eyes when he walks to the crease and knowing today he’s set his stall out for a big innings… and what innings they are!

Does this man deserve a knighthood? Yes! Not only for services to cricket, but for displaying a shining soul for the whole world to see.

A Few Good Creative Men

I thought i’d share even if it’s rather a solemn day with the death of Heath Ledger

RIP Heath Ledger

This news has suprisingly touched me quite profoundly, maybe perhaps because as a creative the idea of talent being unfulfilled is something one hopes will never hapen *touch wood* and i hate to see it happen, and there’s no doubt that he was a talented actor. The trailers for the new batman movie are testament to that fact that in a 2 minute short, he had the screen presence to affect so many people, as i experienced first hand when bringing up the subject of the new movie in the studio one day and seeing how many people were excited with anticipation to see his portrayal of the joker. What struck me was how from just seeing the adverts everyone i talked to, and i guess myself included, had formed the judgement that his performance was going to be show stealing and maybe even legendary.

So RIP Heath Ledger, a great talent, which sadly was, left unfulfilled.

This is our town

It is not about achieving greatness in the world, but achieving greatness in oneself. Only by doing the latter can one hope to accomplish the former.

“I accept this award today with an abiding faith in America and an audacious faith in the future of mankind. I refuse to accept despair as the final response to the ambiguities of history. I refuse to accept the idea that the “isness” of man’s present nature makes him morally incapable of reaching up for the eternal “oughtness” that forever confronts him. I refuse to accept the idea that man is mere flotsom and jetsom in the river of life, unable to influence the unfolding events which surround him. I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. I refuse to accept the cynical notion that nation after nation must spiral down a militaristic stairway into the hell of thermonuclear destruction. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.

This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant. I believe that even amid today’s motor bursts and whining bullets, there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow. I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood-flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men. I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down men other-centered can build up. I still believe that one day mankind will bow before the altars of God and be crowned triumphant over war and bloodshed, and nonviolent redemptive good will proclaim the rule of the land. “And the lion and the lamb shall lie down together and every man shall sit under his own vine and fig tree and none shall be afraid.” I still believe that We Shall overcome!”
